Red Scoria

Red Scoria - Mineralog

About the Product

Scoria is a porous, glassy volcanic rock with a basaltic-andesitic composition. It is formed as a result of volcanic events when basaltic lavas seep through cracks under the influence of explosive pressure.

It is rich in iron and magnesium but poor in silica content. Due to its high iron content and the effects of oxidation, it is typically seen in red and brown tones. It has irregularly shaped structures and various grain size distributions.
