Black Scoria

Black Scoria - Mineralog

About the Product

Scoria is a type of porous, glassy volcanic rock with a basaltic-andesitic composition, formed when lavas of basaltic character seep through cracks under the pressure created by an explosion during volcanic events.

It is rich in iron and magnesium and low in silica content. It consists of irregularly shaped fragments with various grain size distributions. Due to its high iron content and especially the effect of oxidation, it can appear in black tones.
